My Guide to finding Joy with the Earth

Go alone or with someone as weird as you

follow your intuition and breath with it

follow joy and curiosity and whatever stirs your glee

listen

sing!

watch

great the animals as fellow kin

ask them what they are up to and how their day is going

share the space with them, you are a guest

lay on your belly or back if you want to

fart and burp freely, let your body be held loved and accepted by the space

smell the soil, try a blade of grass (if its safe to do so)

meld with the environment for a moment or many moments

feel the wind

feel the ground

feel the sun

feel the cold

notice the plants they've been noticing you

spit out the grass, that's enough chewing

hear the bird calls

take a selfie to remember the relaxed look in your face, and then put your phone away

connect back to the Earth

watch the trees be swept by the wind

enjoy the wind

enjoy it all

repeat

oh shit, i forgot, i often forget

always:

Thank the Land.

see you next time, sweet Earth

My Guid is about using playfulness, awareness, gentleness to develop a relationship with the natural world. The honestly of burping and farting freely helps my body arrive in a place, to release, to land, to meld. Ultimately I am listening for truth, or what's alive in me, today. The process of settling into an environment helps with this process. The questions come, am i able to arrive, where am in distracted, is there something i need to attend to? What is the wind doing today? what part of fall or winter or spring are we in? What are the birds doing? That blade of grass looks interesting, i dont think they use pesticides here, what if i tried chewing on it?

Having moments to just explore, and feel, and observe, and feel again are some of my most treasured experiences with the natural world. My Guide to Finding Joy With the Earth contains some of the ways that I do that.
