Dead isn't Just Dead in Winter
This was the first video I made (that has since then been edited). It is about developing my relationship with the natural world through developing an intimacy with a season - in this case winter, obeserving things like the type of light in winter and I am also in the middle ofthe process with my senior study, and am beginning to
"yes, you belong, yes you are loved,
i often doubted myself and the process, or would feel like i was getting lost in it, or feel like i was over complicating something that was supposed to be quite simple. As I centered my body, and my relationshi with the land, my relationship with goldenrod became a really steady force.
As I look back on this video I hear a lot of hope with the unknown. I say Dead isnt just Dead in Winter, there it's dead with the likely chance it will come back again"
process: after beging outside and taking video and photos of the natural world around me in winter, i went home, uploaded the photos on my computer and while looking at the images I made a drawing (shown below) to bring form and some words to my experience. It fetl like a ritual. I burn, rosemary and then drew with the burnt leaves (shown in the video), and just allowed the images and feelings inform what I drew and wrote. The audio in the video are some of the things I wrote down.
